The Australian state of Victoria is to become the latest to introduce a point of consumption tax for online bookmakers, with the new levy set to come in from January 1st 2019.

All betting and wagering activity will be subject to an 8 per cent tax on net wagering revenue derived from Victorian customers.

This, state Treasurer Tim Pallas said, would ensure all operators pay "their fair share of tax in Victoria."
