The Australian states of Queensland and New South Wales have agreed to implement a new point of consumption tax on wagering operators.

Queensland's deputy premier and treasurer Jackie Trad confirmed that the state's 2018-19 budget will include a 15 per cent tax on net wagering revenue from October 1st.

The budget for New South Wales, which will be released next week, is also expected to include a point of consumption tax at a rate of 10 per cent of net wagering revenue, effective January 1st, 2019.
