The implementation of Malta's new gambling legislation has been delayed in light of comments by the European Commission and European Union member states.

The Maltese government notified its new legislation and regulations to the European Commission (EC) in March with a view to implementing them on July 1st.

However, the standstill period for implementing the laws has now been extended into July following the receipt of comments by the EC and Finland, a detailed opinion from Poland, and a submission by the European Lotteries Association.
