New York-listed betting and gaming supplier International Game Technology (IGT) has been granted an interim license to launch its PlayShot sports betting platform in West Virginia.
Following approval from the West Virginia Lottery Commission, casino operators in the state will be able to partner with IGT to participate in the growing US sports betting market.
"Receiving approval from the West Virginia Lottery Commission to deploy IGT's PlayShot sports betting solution throughout the state continues IGT's momentum in pioneering sports betting across the US, and creates additional new market opportunities for IGT," said Enrico Drago, IGT senior vice president PlayDigital.
"This distinction acknowledges the reliability, security and market-readiness of IGT's PlayShot solution, and creates opportunities for IGT to further differentiate our sports betting solution in the marketplace."
Earlier this week Penn National Gaming confirmed that its Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races would be one of the first casinos in West Virginia to go live with sports betting on September 1st, through a partnership with William Hill US.
FanDuel has also agreed a deal to provide sports wagering services to The Greenbrier, the West Virginia-based luxury resort owned by state Governor Jim Justice.
Shares in International Game Technology plc (NSQ:IGT) closed in New York Thursday at $21.36 per share, up 1.57 per cent.
