Portuguese gambling regulator Serviços de Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos (SRIJ) has confirmed that it has issued two new licenses to Spanish land-based and online operator Luckia.

As previously revealed by Gaming Intelligence in August, Luckia becomes the ninth operator to be granted approval to launch in the regulated Portuguese online betting and gaming market.

Luckia has received license approval from SRIJ to operate both sports betting and online casino through its Luckia.pt site.

Following its launch, Luckia will compete against the market’s eight other licensed operators in the Portuguese market; Betclic.pt, Bet.pt, CasinoPortugal.pt, PokerStars.pt, EstorilCasinos.pt, CasinoSolverde.pt, NossaAposta.pt and Placard.pt.

Portugal is one of a number of new jurisdictions being targeted by Luckia, with the company expecting to be active in twelve markets by 2021. It is currently pursuing online operating licenses in Nigeria, Italy and Malta.
