Portuguese gambling regulator Serviços de Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos (SRIJ) has granted an online gaming license to London-listed operator 888 Holdings.
The approval allows the operator to launch online slot games, cash and tournament poker, as well as French roulette on 888.pt.
888 becomes the 10th company to be granted approval to launch in Portugal, with 16 licenses issued overall by SRIJ, comprising seven sports betting licenses and nine iGaming licenses.
888 will compete against rival licensed iGaming operators in the market including betclic.pt, bet.pt, estorilcasinos.pt, pokerstars.pt, casinoportugal.pt, casinosolverde.pt, nossaaposta.pt and luckia.pt.
Shares in 888 Holdings plc (LSE:888) were trading up 1.11 per cent at 173.00 pence per share in London Tuesday morning.
