Norway’s Ministry of Culture has proposed an amendment to the Broadcasting Act to prevent gambling advertisements from being aired in the country.
The proposal is the latest attempt to strengthen the gambling monopoly and prevent Norwegian-language broadcasters based elsewhere in Europe from promoting offshore online gambling to Norwegian consumers.
Previous attempts to block such ads under gambling legislation have proved unsuccessful, prompting the proposed changes to the broadcasting act.
