Stockholm-listed Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has been granted an affiliate license to enter Romania’s regulated iGaming market.

The Class II license allows GiG’s Media Services division to refer traffic to licensed online casino and sportsbook operators in the country.

The company said the new market entry represents an opportunity for the media vertical to leverage its proprietary technology and know-how and further GiG's regulated markets strategy.

“We are excited to extend our market reach by starting to refer end users to operators with a Romanian license,” said GiG chief operating officer Richard Brown. “We are expanding into another regulated market where we will be able to utilise the full range of marketing channels available across both the sports and casino verticals.

“Romania is still a developing market and with good projected underlying growth in the online sector which has accelerated in the last couple of years.”

Shares in Gaming Innovation Group Inc (OSL:GIG) were trading up 1.33 per cent at NOK12.20 per share in Stockholm Thursday morning.
