Germany’s 16 state-owned lotteries have published an open letter calling for the country’s federal government to introduce new regulations to guarantee their role in the country’s gambling market and enforce a ban on illegal operators offering poker, casino and lottery games.

The letter, also signed by the 16 state sporting associations, explains that in order to maintain the level of funding generated by the lotteries for sports competitions, their involvement in promotional activities for sporting events has to be guaranteed by law.
