US lottery and gaming supplier Scientific Games has agreed a new contract to provide a complete lottery gaming system to the Maine State Lottery.

The new contract was awarded following a procurement process and runs for six years, beginning April 27th and extending through to June 30th 2020.

Under the terms of the deal, Scientific Games will provide software and hardware to operate instant and draw games, including its Sciplay iGaming platform.

Scientific Games will also be responsible for installing and supporting terminals, terminal communications and point of sales equipment for around 1,300 WAVE lottery retail terminals, as well as providing instant game design, marketing services, warehouse management, inventory control and retail distribution.

Gerald Reid, director of the Maine Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery Operations praised Scientific Games’ “complete” lottery solution, highlighting its “state-of-the-art” lottery terminals and “innovative” distribution strategies.

“This comprehensive offering should help us to expand our opportunities and generate additional revenue for the State,” Reid explained.

“We welcome the opportunity to continue our strong working relationship with the Maine State Lottery,” Scientific Games president of North American lottery sales Pat McHugh commented. “We're excited to implement a suite of innovative products and services across the Lottery's full portfolio of games that is expected to bring value to its players and retailers, and generate incremental profits for the State.”

Shares in Scientific Games Corporation (Co.Data) (NASDAQ:SGMS) closed in New York Thursday down 1.33 per cent at $15.63 per share.
