Intralot subsidiary Intralot do Brazil has signed a six-year renewal contract to continue operating lottery games in the State of Minas Gerais.

Minas Gerais is the second most populous state in Brazil with a population of approximately 20 million.

The contract renewal extends the relationship with Intralot which began in 2010 with the signing of an initial six-year contract, with the option of a six-year renewal.

In that time, Intralot has deployed more than 2,500 of its proprietary terminals in the state and established 1,700 points of sale,

"After an unprecedented operational success that has allowed us to raise significant funds for the benefit of our citizens, we have decided to renew our fruitful cooperation with our partner Intralot," said Henrique Pereira Dourado, managing director of the State Lottery of Minas Gerais.

Intralot currently operates five games for the state lottery (Keno, Multiplix, Minas 5, Lotomias and Totolot), with the portfolio set to be expanded under the new contract to include virtual games, which will initially be rolled out at 400 points of sale.

"The renewal of this contract is testimony to the success of our operation in this region and the trust we have built with our partners," commented Intralot COO Nikos Nikolakopoulos.

"We will concentrate all our efforts towards fulfilling our strategic goals in the new area, maximizing social benefits, and promoting responsible gaming and value creation for all stakeholders. Brazil offers many opportunities which we are eager to explore through reliable, market-tested gaming solutions."
