Malta-based lottery betting operator Multilotto has launched its offering in the United Kingdom after securing licence approval from the Gambling Commission.

The launch marks a major step in Multilotto's international expansion plans, having previously been focused on the Nordic market.

The Combined Remote Operating License from the Gambling Commission adds to the company’s existing licences from the Irish National Excise License Office and the Malta Gaming Authority.

It allows players in the UK to bet on the outcome of eleven international lottery jackpot games, including the US-facing  Powerball and Mega Millions.

Multilotto CEO Thomas Biro said he was confident Multilotto’s offering would well received in the UK.

“Our intention is to provide UK players with an alternative to the status quo,” he said. “We want customers to know they can bet on huge jackpots like Powerball and Mega Millions, offering top prizes worth hundreds of millions and sometimes more.

“The first half of 2017 has proved very momentous as we have taken our business to new and exciting markets and we’re delighted with the progress our business is making.”
