The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has launched a request for proposals (RFP) from sports betting service providers.

The RFP aims to identify a service provider who can enhance and expand sports betting in the Canadian province of Ontario through innovative new technology and new sports products, both in the retail environment and online.

The new sports betting offering will be launched by OLG, bringing the lottery in line with its counterparts in Atlantic Canada, Quebec, Manitoba and British Columbia, with a final decision on the selected service provider expected in the fourth quarter of 2018.

OLG said that sports betting is a key part of its vision to develop world class gaming for Ontario, with responsible gambling a priority. This will see the sports betting offering include OLG's PlaySmart responsible gambling solution across retail and online.

CORRECTION:

This article previously stated that the sports betting offering would be launched by OLG together with its counterparts in Atlantic Canada, Quebec, Manitoba and British Columbia. This has been corrected as the other lottery jurisdictions already have these sports betting offerings and OLG wants to offer similar products.
