The Spanish government issued a total of 277 online gaming licences to operators and rejected a further three licence applications ahead of Tuesday’s opening of the newly regulated market.
Secretary of state for finance Miguel Ferre used the occasion to stress the importance of regulation in creating new opportunities within the Spanish gaming and technology sectors, as well as highlighting the contribution that gaming will make to the treasury.
