Scientific Games Corporation has agreed to acquire U.S gaming supplier WMS Industries in a deal worth approximately US$1.5bn.

The acquisition, which  was announced Thursday, has the approval of the board of directors of both Scientific Games and WMS, and will enable Scientific Games to deliver a broader portfolio of products and strengthen the company’s position within the interactive gaming market.

“The acquisition of WMS is transformational for Scientific Games, enabling us to offer a complete portfolio of lottery and gaming products and services to both new and existing customers around the world,” said A. Lorne Weil, Scientific Games' chairman and CEO.
