Trading in shares of Australian gaming companies Tabcorp and Tatts Group was suspended Wednesday pending what turned out to be a negative decision by the Australian Federal Court regarding their proposed merger.

The court sided with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) in its decision, halting the proposed merger and ordering the Australian Competition Tribunal to review its earlier decision to approve the deal.

The two companies had hoped to conclude the transaction by November 1st.
