US casino operator Boyd Gaming has made its first move into the lucrative Pennsylvanian gaming market with a definitive agreement to acquire Valley Forge Casino Resort for $280.5m.

Located 20 miles west of downtown Philadelphia, Valley Forge will be Boyd's first asset in Pennsylvania, the second-largest commercial gaming state in the United States.

Following the passage of gaming expansion legislation last month, the acquisition will also provide Boyd the opportunity to enter the state’s regulated iGaming market when regulations come into force.
