Online gaming operator Gamesys has successfully defended itself against complaints that a Facebook advertisement for its online bingo game Bingo Friendzy could be of particular appeal to children, with the UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) finding that age restrictions employed by the company are sufficient to prevent exposure to minors.
The ASA investigated the ad after receiving two complaints about the Facebook ad which featured the headline “Bingo Friendzy ... World's First Real Cash Games on Facebook”.
The complaints centred on the use of “furry cartoon characters” in the ad and statements such as “Visit the Candy Cave! Exclusive 90 ball bingo from Bingo #Friendzy”. The complainants challenged whether the ad was irresponsible because it was likely to be of particular appeal to children.
