The UK’s Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) has ruled that a banner ad by online gaming operator Bet365 that had already been altered following an earlier ASA ruling was misleading after it failed to display significant conditions relating to a free bets offer with “sufficient prominence”.

The online banner ad for bet365 stated: "£200 FREE BETS FOR NEW CUSTOMERS … JOIN NOW, with smaller text below stating: “Terms & Conditions Apply”.

One complainant challenged whether the ad was misleading because the banner ad did not make clear that customers would need to make a substantial financial commitment to receive the £200 sum, and would have to play through the deposit and bonus three times before funds could be withdrawn.
