Online poker operator PokerStars has become the latest to launch Jumio’s real-time ID document verification technology, with the solution now live for the company’s Italian customers.
The Italian launch is to be followed up with a worldwide roll-out over the coming months, allowing the operator’s customers to easily verify their identity either by uploading ID documents or using their computer’s webcam to have documents checked in real time.
PokerStars' senior verifications manager Richard Bregazzi said he was “pleased and excited to be working closely with [Jumio] to help develop and deliver an innovative and exciting customer verification solution.”
“PokerStars' commitment to safety and security is second to none. This innovative new feature will allow us to provide better and faster service to our customers, while maintaining very high security standards,” Bregazzi added.
Jumio director Bjorn Evers commented that signing up a client of PokerStars’ standing was “a great endorsement of [Jumio’s] new approach to the market.”
“Our ID credentials validation service not only provides a great customer experience and helps identify underage players and cybercriminals, but it also helps PokerStars manage the cost and the logistics required to manually verify customer identity documents,” Evers explained.
The operator joins the likes of Mr Green and binary options operator XP Capital in launching the solution, which was updated in September with face-matching technology in order to add an extra level of security to the product.
Last week Jumio was also approved to offer its services to customers in the New Jersey online gaming market by the state’s Division of Gaming Enforcement.
