Malta-licensed online casino operator Mr Green has secured a deal to become the main shirt sponsor of Irish football team Bohemian FC for the 2014 Irish Premier League season.

The deal will be used by the operator to support the launch of its brand in the Republic of Ireland, with Mr Green providing “significant financial and marketing support” to the club.

Bohemians are the oldest Irish league club, having been founded in 1890, and are the third most successful club in League of Ireland history, winning the title eleven times, the FAI Cup seven times and the League of Ireland Cup three times. The club plays its home games at Dalymount Park which has a capacity of 4,300.

Mr Green’s logo will appear on the club’s home jersey as part of a design that was selected by Bohemian’s supporters, while the team’s away strip will be green to reflect the operator’s branding.

The company will also sponsor the player’s equipment, with each to be given green boots for the season.

It will also invest heavily in a signage programme at the club’s Dalymount Park, with its brand to feature heavily around the stadium.

Mr Green’s country manager for Ireland Gavin Flood said of the deal: “Bohemian FC is an entertaining, ambitious and innovative club – values that we share as a brand.

He said the deal was a “very important part” of its brand-building programme in Ireland.

“As we work to realise our long term ambition of being the number one online casino operator in Ireland, we feel it is important to put down strong roots through prominent partnerships such as this,” Flood explained.

Bohemian FC president Matt Devaney said the partnership with Mr Green would help strengthen his club’s status as one of the biggest and most recognisable teams in Irish football.

He added that the scale of the deal demonstrated Mr Green’s commitment “not only to Bohemian FC, but also to the brand and Irish market as well.”

The deal was brokered by sporting rights management company Fortitude Sports Management.
