Playtech’s dedicated bingo subsidiary Virtue Fusion has renewed its supplier agreement with Mecca Bingo, a subsidiary of UK-listed gaming operator Rank Group.

The extension will see Virtue Fusion power Mecca Bingo's online and mobile offerings for an additional three years.

The companies have a long-standing relationship, with Rank becoming one of Virtue Fusion’s first customers in 2006.

Rank chairman and chief executive Ian Burke commented that Virtue Fusion has been an important partner for Mecca, adding that he was pleased the companies had been able to reach an agreement to further develop the relationship.

“Mecca were one of Virtue Fusion's first ever Bingo customers and the further re-signing of a marquee Bingo brand like this shows the strength of the partnership, in conjunction with the power of the Virtue Fusion bingo network, range of products and our future plans," Virtue Fusion chief operating officer Dan Philips added.

Mecca’s online offering has struggled in recent months, reflecting a wider downturn in the saturated UK online bingo market, with digital operating profit down 40 per cent in the company’s first half results, published in January.

The drop in profit was blamed on lower revenue, coupled with higher IT and promotional costs. Of the £29.8m earned over the six month period, 22 per cent was generated on mobile devices.
