US gaming supplier IGT has rolled out its first ever commercial multi-state wide area progressive jackpot game between New Jersey and South Dakota.
The company has successfully connected casino properties in New Jersey and Deadwood, South Dakota, in what it claims is the industry's first ever commercial inter-jurisdictional wide area progressive jackpot.
Powerbucks is an "add on" to fan-favourite titles such as MegaJackpots that links progressive pools between participating jurisdictions. Designed to award significant jackpots at any bet level, IGT said that Powerbucks will create “more winners, more frequently.”
“Linking the Deadwood, South Dakota properties and New Jersey properties with Powerbucks is an exciting occasion for IGT,” said Joe Sigrist, IGT vice president of product management and global product development. “Bringing industry-first innovation and truly transformative gaming experiences to the players who crave it, is at the core of what IGT does.
“The company looks forward to the expansion of Powerbucks and creating jackpot mania like never before.”
Powerbucks machines at properties in Deadwood are linked up with Caesars Entertainment and Boyd Gaming properties in New Jersey following deals with IGT earlier this month. Both Caesars and Boyd have agreed to add their Nevada-based properties to the Powerbucks link, upon receipt of regulatory approvals.
Boyd Gaming’s executive vice president and chief operating officer Paul Chakmak said that Powerbucks gives players “yet another reason” to choose Boyd Gaming over the competition.
“Boyd Gaming is excited to join forces with our long-time partners at IGT in delivering a new and compelling gaming entertainment experience to our guests,” he said.
Caesars Entertainment’s senior vice president of gaming Melissa Price added: “We are continually seeking new and innovative ways to bring more excitement to the gaming experience. Together, IGT and Caesars Entertainment own the legacy of creating the most millionaires in the industry; now with Powerbucks, we're creating a whole new level of excitement around winning.”
IGT added that it has pioneered similar links for lottery markets with IGT's MegaHits and for tribal properties with the Native American Progressive System (NAPS).
