International Game Technology (IGT) has moved to bolster its Asian-facing product range with a licensing deal to develop products based on the popular Japanese-inspired lifestyle brand tokidoki.

Under the terms of the deal IGT will be allowed to develop slot games based around the tokidoki brand, with new titles to be rolled out initially at select casinos in Singapore and Macau from 2015. The supplier will also roll out the games in additional markets worldwide.

IGT’s vice president of game development and global product management Joe Sigrist explained that Asia represents an important growth opportunity for the company.

He said that the licensing of the tokidoki brand would allow IGT to develop “a compelling series of market-attuned games to generate massive excitement among players.”

“With our strong focus on developing games that appeal to international audiences, based on themes and game dynamics that resonate regionally, we're very pleased to launch tokidoki for players in Asia, particularly in Macau and Singapore,” Sigrist added.

Tokidoki was created in 2005 by Italian artist Simone Legno, with business partners Pooneh Mohajer and Ivan Arnold.

The company has created and developed themes featuring different characters, such as Moofia, the Cactus Friends and Punkstar.

It has worked alongside a number of leading fashion and electronics companies such as jeans maker Levi’s, headwear manufacturer New Era, headphone maker Skull Candy and photographic company Fujitsu.
