888sport, the sports betting brand of iGaming operator 888, is to sponsor the Tingle Creek Chase, one of the leading races in the UK National Hunt calendar.

The race takes place at Sandown Park on December 6th and represents 888sport's first sponsorship of a Grade 1 race, the highest category of UK jump racing. The agreement will also see 888sport sponsor the following race to be held on the day, the London National Handicap Chase.

The two-mile 888sport Tingle Creek Chase has a total prize pot of £150,000, with the winner taking home £80,000. The race has been won by high-profile horses such as two-time Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Kauto Star.

The London National Handicap comes with a £40,000 prize for the winner. It is run over three miles and five furlongs and is seen as a key trial for next year’s Aintree Grand National.

Itai Pazner, 888’s senior vice president of B2C, said the sponsorship deal demonstrated his company’s ambition to become a major player in British horse racing.

“We are truly proud and honoured that our growing brand is to be associated with what is unquestionably one of the biggest races on the National Hunt calendar,” he said.

The Jockey Club’s London regional director Rupert Trevelyan added that he was delighted to be working with 888sport, noting that the Tingle Creek is one of the best two-mile chases in the jump racing calendar and a seasonal highlight for Sandown Park.

The deal comes as 888 continues to build its 888sport brand, having announced Channel 4 racing presenter Emma Spencer as its global racing ambassador in May. The company has also sponsored two races at the Market Rasen track in September.
