Premier Gateway International (PGI), the totalisator gateway business jointly operated by Australia’s Tabcorp and South Africa’s Phumelela Gold Enterprises, has been selected by the Emirates Racing Authority to host international betting pools for this year’s Dubai racing season.

The season includes the world’s richest race meeting, the Dubai World Cup Racing Carnival, which is a series of 11 race meetings that attract some of the world’s best horses, jockeys and trainers. It culminates in the Dubai World Cup, due to take place on March 28th, with a $10m prize pool.

PGI chief information officer Neil Harmer said he was delighted to be working with the Emirates Racing Authority as betting pools provider for the Dubai racing season, adding that he was particularly excited to be working on the World Cup Racing Carnival.

“The betting pools for the Carnival attract interest from betting operators around the world who will all be connecting into PGI’s totalisator system located in Douglas (Isle of Man),” Harmer explained.

“We’ve found the Isle of Man to be the ideal location for our business and have benefited from the highly professional approach that the government takes for the gaming industry and the technological infrastructure,” he said.

Peter Greenhill, CEO for e-Gaming Development with the Isle of Man Department of Economic Development, added: "This announcement is not only great news for PGI but also for the Isle of Man as it reinforces our status as a high quality and respected jurisdiction for gaming and betting business."
