NextGen Gaming, the Sydney-based slots development subsidiary of NYX Gaming Group, has signed a deal to develop new online slot content with land-based games developer Lightning Box Games.

The companies will work together to develop a series of games on NextGen’s Game Deployment Module (GDM) platform which will then be launched across NYX’s distribution network, including clients using its Open Games System (OGS) remote games server.

The first title to be launched through the partnership, Dolphin Gold, is expected to be released in both Flash and HTML5 formats during the first quarter.

Lightning Box managing director Peter Causley said that NYX’s access to operators around the world was highly appealing to his company when it was assessing options for bringing its titles to market.

“We are excited to take our 21 years of land based gaming experience online with our highly esteemed new partners, and for our games to extend their reach into the e-gaming world with NYX Gaming Group,” Causley explained.

NYX's commercial director David Johnson said: “The partnership with Lightning Box diversifies our product offering. Development involved both the game studio and delivery aspects of our group business. The result provides our newest partners a huge advantage in getting their popular land based games to online, mobile and social players through NYX Gaming Group’s extensive distribution network.”

Lightning Box, established in Sydney by former Aristocrat and IGT developers in 2004, supplies companies such as WMS, Amaya and Gala Coral with content. It has also moved into the free-to-play space via a partnership with social casino operator Plaor, launching its third slot on the Mega Fame Casino & Slots app earlier this week.

In related news, NYX has rolled out its first online scratchcards for all OGS customers, which are based on some of NextGen’s most popular slots such as Foxin’ Wins, Doctor Love and Merlin’s Millions Superbet.

NYX explained that the new product would aid operators in acquisition and retention efforts.

“We are delighted to launch our initial range of scratch cards to the wider market via NYX OGS,” Johnson said. “With this new product stream perfect for instant handset play, operators have another product set at their disposal using proven, recognizable, proprietary NYX Gaming Group IP.”

“We are committed to a roadmap of further scratch card titles which will widen the funnel of operator acquisition and conversion, whilst providing a fun and profitable alternative to our classic slots,” he added.
