Thrill Poker, an Indian poker brand owned by Mirch Entertainment, has migrated to Microgaming’s MPN, becoming the first operator to launch with the supplier in the country.

It becomes the first operator to launch a skin on MPN India, a new ring-fenced poker network dedicated to the Indian market and operating exclusively in Rupees. Microgaming claims that a number of additional companies are set to launch on the network in the coming months.

Thrill Poker originally launched with Swedish software developer Cubeia in October 2013, but will now migrate all existing traffic to the Microgaming platform.

“Online and offline poker in India is growing massively in popularity,” Thrill Poker director Aditya Oberoi commented. “We wanted to build an offering which was market-leading, secure, and robust in order to provide the best possible poker experience to Indian players.”

“That’s why we chose to partner with Microgaming, the industry’s software expert.”

Microgaming’s head of poker Alex Scott said he was very pleased Thrill Poker had chosen to upgrade its product with the supplier.

“We have added another string to our bow with a poker network dedicated to India; it is a growing market and we are now well positioned to capitalise on this,” he explained.

Founded in 2013, Thrill Poker has recently launched Team Thrill India, bringing together some of India’s highest-rated poker players, as it looks to grow poker in the country.

While less popular than other games such as rummy, which is also offered by Thrill Poker, poker is becoming increasingly widely played in India, where there are growing calls for it to be classed as a game of skill which would remove any doubts about its legality.
