Online poker operator Winamax has signed a two-year sponsorship deal with French football club Olympique de Marseille (OM), with the company’s logo to feature across the Ligue 1 club’s shorts.

Winamax will be an official partner of the Ligue 1 club, benefiting from branding at the 67,000 capacity Stade Vélodrome.

The Winamax brand will also be visible during the club’s pre-season friendly matches next month for the Robert Louis-Dreyfus trophy, which includes Italian champions Juventus.

"Being present at Olympique Marseille, the birthplace of football, is a real satisfaction,” said Winamax president and CEO Alexander Roos. “We have at heart to make a partnership that places the community of fans, the most passionate in France, as a priority for us.”

The two-year agreement will also see Winamax work with OM to offer fans and supporters the chance to win tickets for games, football shirts, as well as other events taking place at the club’s stadium.

"The OM is proud that Winamax, the main player in the French poker and sports betting market, is among its major partners,” said Vincent Labrune, president of Olympique de Marseille. “The goal of our relationship is twofold: for the fans to enjoy entertainment and special benefits of the club, and that OM carries the colours of Winamax to support the brand and its development.”

Founded in 1899, OM has won the French league ten times and the Coupe de France a record ten times. It also won the UEFA Champions League in 1993, the only French club to have done so. Last season, the club finished 4th, 14 points behind champions Paris Saint-Germain.
