Scientific Games is set to bring television’s most iconic yellow-skinned family into the gambling industry with a new slot based on The Simpsons.
Having sealed a licensing deal with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products and Gracie Films, Scientific Games becomes the first gambling software supplier to develop a slot based on the programme, the longest running scripted television series of all time.
The game is to be unveiled on the new Gamescape cabinet at the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas, and will feature range of popular characters from the show, including Homer and Marge Simpson, tavern owner Moe Syszlak and Kwik-e-Mart proprietor Apu Nahasapeemapetilon.
“The Simpsons game on our new Gamescape cabinet combines one of the most recognizable and beloved brands in the world with some of the greatest innovations in the gaming industry,” Scientific Games’ group chief executive for gaming Derik Mooberry said.
“We are extremely proud to work closely with Fox Consumer Products and Gracie Films on the development of this game, and believe players around the globe will be thrilled with the experience.”
The Gamescape cabinet uses three high-definition displays angled towards the player alongside a 40-inch curved top screen surrounding them. Using an ergonomic 10.4-inch tablet button panel, operators can coordinate graphics across multiple displays.
It also features lighting around the edge of the display and an integrated sound bar delivering 3D stereo sound without the need for a dedicated sound chair.
“Our teams worked extremely hard to ensure the first Simpsons-themed slot machine is a true testament to the brand, providing a truly immersive experience,” president of Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products Jeffrey Godsick said.
“With dynamic new content, attention to detail –and a few surprises– Scientific Games is creating an entertaining gaming experience that we know fans will enjoy.”
