The UK Advertising Standards Authority has upheld a complaint against a television advertisement for online bingo operator Tombola.co.uk, which was considered likely to cause serious or widespread offence by presenting a negative racial stereotype.

 

The TV ad showed a white man wearing a dinner suit and a black man in a floral shirt, both sitting by a fire on a beach. The black man was playing a ukulele and repeated, in song, everything the white man said: "If you sign up this month to Tombola.co.uk; we will match your first deposit up to twenty five pounds; thank you Tito; ola tombola."
