The dire warnings against sports betting operators signing partnerships with German football clubs appear to have fallen on deaf ears, with Tipwin, Tipico and Tipbet agreeing commercial deals in recent days.

A number of bodies, including the Deutsche Lotto- und Totoblock (DLTB) and state regulatory agencies, have argued that such deals are illegal under the current regulatory framework. However, with the current State Treaty on Gambling widely discredited and yet to see a single licence issued, this has failed to stop operators from agreeing sponsorship deals.

The latest partnerships see Tipico agree to serve as a partner of the Sachsen Football Association; Tipbet renew its partnership with 2.Bundesliga club Fortuna Düsseldorf, and Tipwin agree a betting partnership with leading Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
