The UK's Advertising Standard Authority (ASA) has warned Coral to ensure the accuracy of its advertising communications after an error in a newspaper ad left customers unaware as to whether winnings would be paid in cash or free bets.

The press ad was also criticised for failing to make clear that the offer would only run from 8am on the day of publication for one hour, something the ASA felt was particularly misleading to customers.

The ad in question was published in the Daily Telegraph newspaper on June 10th, during the Euro 2016 football tournament. It stated, in large text: “ENGLAND TO BEAT RUSSIA WAS 10/11 NOW 50/1.”
