Racetrack operator Jockey Club Racecourses has signed a three-year extension to its sponsorship agreement with Paddy Power Betfair's Betfair brand.

This sees Betfair continue as the headline sponsor of Betfair Chase at Haydock Park, a race the operator has backed since it started in 2005, and the Betfair Tingle Creek, a race held at Sandown Park. 

The three-year extension includes an option to renew the deal in 2019.

"As a major supporter of British Racing we're delighted Betfair is continuing to partner with us on two of the biggest days of jump racing in the calendar," Jockey Club Racecourses chief executive Paul Fisher said.

"ABP may have finished following the reform of the levy, but we remain extremely grateful to Betfair, not only for the role they played as a founding partner, but also for the ongoing support they offer to racing."

Betfair was one of the founding Authorised Betting Partners (ABP) of British Racing, a scheme introduced to ensure iGaming operators contributed to the funding of UK horseracing in 2015. It became the first operator to sign a commercial partnership with Jockey Club Racecourses when the track operator announced it would only work with members of the partnership scheme.

The ABP scheme has now ended, following the adoption of a new Horseracing Levy that requires all operators taking bets on UK racing to pay back to the sport.

"This will be the 13th renewal of the Betfair Chase and we are extremely proud to have helped establish the race as a premier target for top chasers and young pretenders alike. It is a race with a rich history which continues to be a strong and sound platform to chasing success."
