Sports data specialist Sportradar has secured the media rights to a new football eSports competition being launched by Barcelona footballer Gerard Piqué and Japanese entertainment company Konami.

eFootball.Pro, founded by Piqué in 2016, has agreed to work with Konami to launch the new international competition, which is expected to be broadcast around the world.

Sportradar has signed a multi-year agreement to be the official international media rights distribution partner for the new league, as well as providing matchday previews and analysis, highlights, news, interviews, reports and other audiovisual content.

“We trust in the quality of the contents produced by Sportradar and its expertise to distribute them,” said eFootball.Pro managing director Javier Alonso. “We hope that we together will lay the foundations of the football esports’ future and bring the spectators a unique and exciting product.”

Sportradar director of media rights Giuseppe Sampino commented: “This league already has all the ingredients in place to ensure that it takes the world by storm. Sportradar will also be responsible for the distribution of other eSports events organised by Esports Media Rights (EMR), which owns eFootball.Pro.
