The affiliate marketing industry has been warned of "significant issues" that must be addressed to ensure compliance with regulations concerning privacy and unsolicited communications.

The warning follows a 2017 investigation by the Unsolicited Communications Enforcement Network (UCENet), a body established in 2004 to promote international cooperation to tackle spamming.

The project was led by the UK Information Commissioner's Office and the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission, and involved ten agencies from six countries, including the Gibraltar Regulatory Authority (GRA).
