Stockholm-listed iGaming operator Mr Green has been named an international partner of the ÖTILLÖ Swimrun World Championship and World Cup, an endurance race that takes place in Sweden each year.
The race sees participants from over 40 countries run and swim across the Stockholm archipelago in September and aims to promote nature and environmental sustainability.
This fits with Mr Green's #cleantheocean action campaign, launched as part of the operator's corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy last year in partnership with the University of Malta and the International Ocean Institute.
The initiative has already seen Mr Green employees work alongside masters students from the UK's University of York to clean beaches in Malta and collect data about pollution on the island's of the Mediterranean sea.
This will be supported by ÖTILLÖ, which will work with Mr Green to conduct cleaning campaigns with the local community and their own staff at the race course. By picking up debris around the course, it aims to highlight how much waste can end up in the ocean.
"We are very proud of our collaboration with Mr Green," ÖTILLÖ Swimrun race director and founder Michael Lemmel said. "It is making us able to jointly raise an incredibly important topic for us as we all rely on clean water."
Mr Green chief executive Jesper Kärrbrink added: "As a Malta-based company, we are concerned about the increase of plastics in our seas, which is an important part of our ecosystem.
"For us it is just natural to contribute to both healthier seas and increased awareness of the state of the sea's health," he explained. "A green mindset has been a central part of our business strategy since the foundation in 2007. Mr Green has high ambitions and wants our brand to be associated with responsibility and sustainability."
