New York-listed lottery and gaming supplier Scientific Games has partnered the world's largest leisure travel company Carnival Corporation for a new promotion celebrating 20 years of Monopoly-branded slots.

The Monopoly Cruise for Cash promotion is a multi-channel event series in which players can compete in a variety of land-based, online and cruise ship-based qualifying events for a place in a USD$200,000 Monopoly slot tournament.

This will take place on the Regal Princess, a cruise ship owned by Carnival Corporation's Princess Cruises subsidiary, on December 9th. Scientific Games has created a special slot tournament format for the qualifying rounds, as well as for the final tournament.

The promotion has been launched to celebrate Scientific Games' relationship with Hasbro, owner of the Monopoly brand, which has endured for more than two decades. Over this time Scientific Games has developed over 80 land-based slots based on the iconic board game, alongside hundreds of Monopoly-themed titles for lottery and online channels.

"We are tremendously excited to be celebrating our long-standing relationship with Hasbro and Monopoly with a promotion that includes both our land-based and online gaming players," Scientific Games executive vice president and group chief executive of gaming Derek Mooberry said.

Hasbro senior vice president of digital gaming and development Mark Blecher added: "In its 80-year history, Monopoly has been played by more than one billion people in 114 countries around the world. Drawing upon this widespread popularity, we have delivered Monopoly experiences to fit every interest including promotions, fashion and digital gaming.

Through its partnership with Scientific Games, Carnival Corporation has become the first company to receive Monopoly Millionaire, one of the latest land-based titles developed around the brand. The slot is showcased on SG's Alpha Pro Wave 360 cabinets, featuring a spinning bonus wheel.

Shares in Scientific Games Corporation (NSQ:SGMS) closed in New York Tuesday down 1.49 per cent at $49.45 per share.
