Gauselmann Group's sports betting subsidiary XTiP has signed a deal to continue as the main sponsor of Rot-Weiss Essen, a team playing in the fourth tier of the German football pyramid.

Having initially began sponsoring the team in 2016, XTiP then became its main shirt sponsor before the 2017-18 season.

Following the extension for the 2018-19 Regionalliga-West season, the operator will continue to run a range of fan engagement activities through the partnership.

"Excitement, emotion and passion can be found in abundance at both Rot-Weiss Essen and at XTiP," the company's managing director Mathias Dahms said.

"As a subsidiary of the family-run Gauselmann Group, tradition and consistency are very important to us, so we look forward to continuing to be a partner of the club," he explained.

Commenting on the agreement, Rot-Weiss Essen chief executive Marcus Uhlig added: "The extension of this important partnership is also a confirmation and appreciation of the strong cooperation in recent years, especially in the past season.

"XTiP has proved to be a strong partner, and we are therefore happy to be heading into the new season together."

The club finished tenth in last season's Regionalliga-West rankings.
