Online betting and gaming operator Betway has agreed a sponsorship deal with recently-relaunched Brazilian eSports brand Made in Brazil (MIBR).

Betway will serve as a founding sponsor of MIBR alongside popular dating app Tinder, developing exclusive content for fans and gaining rights to a number of the team's media assets.

The sponsorship agreement follows the June acquisition of MIBR by Los Angeles-based eSports organisation Immortals, creating a new MIBR roster for Counter-Strike:Global Offensive featuring members of the now-defunct SK Gaming CS:GO team.

As a result of the acquisition, the MIBR team is relocating to Los Angeles to train at Immortals' campus before participating in the 2018 ESL One Cologne event in July. The tournament is one of the most popular CS:GO events and runs from July 3rd to July 8th.

"Betway is delighted to support the revival of MIBR," Betway chief executive Anthony Werkman said. "We couldn't be more excited to be working with them in bringing CS:GO fans closer to the team through exclusive content.

"Esports is an extremely important part of our portfolio, and through the sponsorship of MIBR we will continue to cement ourselves as a significant part of the CS:GO community," he said. "We always strive to give back to eSports fans by bridging the gap between the event and betting slip through producing great content and exciting markets in which fans can play."

Immortals and MIBR president and chief operating officer Ari Segal added: "The pace of change in eSports continues to accelerate and over the last several months, triggered in part by the repeal of PASPA, we see continued acceptance and adoption of legalized gambling in eSports and around the world.

"Establishing Betway as a founding sponsor of MIBR delivers professionalism and legitimacy to the eSports gambling market in a way that most other names in this category could not," he explained. "We are excited by the opportunity to develop new eSports fans through this unique channel."
