Oslo-listed Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has agreed a sponsorship deal with Finnish eSports team ENCE through its flagship gaming brand Rizk.com.

Based in Finland, ENCE is a professional eSports team founded in April 2013, with players competing in international tournaments for games such as Starcraft 2, Hearthstone, Rainbow Six: Siege, Overwatch and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

The sponsorship agreement will see the Rizk.com logo feature on ENCE’s website and merchandise, although the operator has agreed not to include its logo on any merchandise worn by Jere Salo, a player aged under 18.

GiG described the partnership with ENCE as a natural fit for the Rizk brand, which recently launched a sportsbook with a range of betting markets for eSports.

“As an entertainment provider ourselves we share a very similar ethos and understanding,” said GiG chief executive Robin Reed. “With the rise in popularity of eSports in general and the recent launch of Rizk sportsbook, the timing for this branding opportunity couldn’t have been better.

“ENCE has a globally renowned team and we are proud to be supporting them through all the tournaments and events they will be attending this year across the world.”

ENCE marketing director Joona Leppänen added: “ENCE is very happy to be working with Rizk, paving their way to the wonderful world of eSports. With a rapidly changing and growing industry, we are here to support Rizk to take the right steps in getting involved in eSports.

“Rizk is a tremendous partner for ENCE as it’s backed by a forward thinking and innovating iGaming company.”

Shares in Gaming Innovation Group Inc (OSL:GIG) were trading up 0.34 per cent at NOK4.47 per share in Oslo Tuesday morning.
