The UK Advertising Standards Authority has upheld a complaint against lottery betting operator LottoGo.com for misleading jackpot advertising and failure to make clear that players are betting on lotteries rather than participating in them.

The ruling published Wednesday follows a similar decision issued to rival lottery betting operator Lottoland in July.

The latest case saw one complainant challenge the jackpot figure presented for the Mega Millions lottery in the United States on the basis that the jackpot figure would be subject to deductions.

A second issue raised by the ASA challenged whether the ad was misleading because it did not make clear that it was offering the opportunity to bet on the outcome of the lottery, rather than participate in it.
