Online bingo operator Tombola has been told by the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) to ensure that its advertisements include specific targeting to minimise the likelihood of under-18s being exposed to them.

The latest ruling from the ASA focused on ads for Tombola Arcade which was displayed in the ‘I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here’ app last November.

The ads were displayed occasionally in a section of the app where users could watch video clips, while another appeared in the “Vote” section of the app, with all ads stating: “18+ begambleaware.org T&Cs apply.”

The ASA challenged whether the ads were appropriately targeted.
