Australian betting operator PointsBet has signed a multi-year sponsorship deal with National Rugby League (NRL) club the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks.

The four-year deal sees the operator secure the naming rights to the club’s New South Wales-based stadium, which will be renamed PointsBet Stadium, with the operator’s logo also featuring on the sternum of the Sharks’ team shirts.

“PointsBet is setting new standards in the sports betting industry in Australia and around the world and we’re excited they have shown great faith in our club by partnering up with the Sharks on this long-term arrangement,” said Sharks general manager of commercial Chris Highett.

“Starting with our round five game against the Roosters, the Sharks will be playing out of PointsBet Stadium and we look forward to a long and positive relationship with the team at PointsBet.”

PointsBet co-founder and chief marketing officer Andrew Fahey commented: “We are thrilled to be entering a long-term partnership with the Cronulla Sharks. They have ambitious plans both on and off the field and we look forward to being part of their success.

“There is nothing better than watching footy at a traditional suburban ground like at Cronulla and you won’t find a more loyal, passionate supporter base than Sharks fans. The announcement of PointsBet Stadium is something we are very proud of.”
