Sweden’s consumer agency calls for further improvements to bonus terms

Sweden’s consumer protection agency Konsumentverket has welcomed the clear improvements made by gaming operators in terms of gambling advertising, although it urges further improvement to bonus promotions.

A review recently conducted by the consumer agency found no increase in the level of gambling advertising in Sweden compared to last year and noted that the promotion of bonus offers is an area where clear improvements have been made, although it warned that there are still shortcomings in this area.

The agency said Tuesday that in many cases there is a need for clearer and more easily accessible information on the terms and conditions attached to bonus offers, both in online banner ads and gaming operators’ websites.

The results of the review have not been made available to the public but have been shared with Sweden’s licensed gaming operators, who are now are expected to take into account the agency's assessments when designing future gambling advertising.
