Germany’s Monopolies Commission has issued a scathing report on the newly adopted amended State Treaty on Gaming, stating that the regulations are more often driven by fiscal interests than social goals and describing them as ineffective in combating gambling addiction.
Having considered the suitability of the new State Treaty to effectively combat gambling addiction, the Commission concluded that “a fundamental revision [of the regulations] is required”.
