Lawmakers in the US state of Georgia have once again introduced legislation which seeks to legalise pari-mutuel betting on horseracing and offers voters the opportunity to decide on the establishment of betting facilities in their local communities.
HB467 was introduced last week and unanimously approved by the House Regulated Industries Committee and is now before the House Rules Committee. A similar bill had been introduced in previous legislative sessions but ultimately failed.
