ECJ refutes football fixtures’ intellectual property rights

In a serious blow to sporting bodies and proponents keen to establish a sports fixtures right in the UK, the European Court of Justice has refuted the claims of Football DataCo and the English and Scottish football leagues that intellectual property rights under the Database Directive exist in the annually created football fixture lists.
