The Irish government’s attempts to extend its levy paid by land-based bookmakers to online gaming operators has suffered a further setback, with the standstill period for the Betting (Amendment) Bill extended into January of next year.
The country’s Minister for Finance Michael Noonan admitted that the standstill period had been extended after Malta raised concerns over licensing laws for operators who are already licensed by another jurisdiction.
