Alabama Governor Robert Bentley will convene a special session of the state legislature to consider establishing a lottery in the state.
Bentley believes that a state lottery is the best to solve the state's financial problems, which he says have held Alabama back “for decades”.
He said that an Alabama lottery could generate US$225m each year, and with all other options exhausted, it is the best way to address the state’s financial difficulties.
